Today’s Recommendation: Boundless Necromancer and the Power of Escaping Through Fiction

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before on here, but I really love to read. Manga, manhwa, manhua, webtoons, novels, books—anything that can pull me into a world different from this one usually gets my attention. Sometimes it’s fantasy, sometimes it’s action or drama, but the common thread is this: I just like stories that let me disappear for a while.

One of the more recent manhwa I’ve been reading is called Boundless Necromancer. As of now, there are 147 translated chapters out, and you can find it on just about any major webtoon or manhwa site. It’s an incredible read, at least to me. The art is sharp and dynamic, the pacing never feels dull, and the character development is what really got me hooked.

The story follows a young man who starts off as the kind of person most people overlook. In the world he lives in, only the strong get to live decent lives. If you’re weak, you’re disposable. Power determines your value. He’s not just weak in the beginning—he’s helpless. He can’t even defend himself when others hurt him. It’s a bleak and brutal world, and he’s at the bottom of it.

Then one day, everything changes. He’s transported into a mysterious tower. This tower offers him a chance. A brutal chance, sure, but a chance nonetheless. Through trials, battles, and constant struggle, he starts to grow stronger. Not for power’s sake, but because he wants to protect others. He wants to become someone who can stand up for the weak—someone who can punish those who abuse their strength.

There’s something about that story that really sits with me. I think a lot of people daydream about what it would be like to have some kind of special ability. To wake up one day and finally be enough. To walk down the street and feel like you could protect yourself or others. To have something that sets you apart. Something that makes you matter.

Reading Boundless Necromancer kind of scratches that itch for me. I find myself rooting for the protagonist not just because he’s strong, but because I relate to how powerless he felt in the beginning. I know what it feels like to want to be more. To wish for something that finally gives your life meaning or direction. And while I can’t summon skeletons or wield magic, reading his journey makes me feel like maybe I can keep pushing through my own.

If you’re into action-fantasy manhwa and you’re looking for a story that has heart beneath the violence, I recommend giving Boundless Necromancer a try. You might find a little bit of yourself in it, too.

At the very least, it’ll give you a place to escape to for a while. And sometimes, that’s all we really need.
